Near Vertical Incident Skywave (NVIS) 101 & 201
Near Vertical Incident Skywave (NVIS) 101 & 201 – Colorado ARES Section Wide Training – 18 APR 2026

NVIS is an important communications technique for Colorado ARES and can provide reliable communications up to a five-hundred-mile radius without the use of repeaters. NVIS is not an antenna, but it is a propagation mode where antennas can be configured to optimize NVIS properties.
Does that sound confusing? Do you want to learn more? If so join us via Zoom to learn about NVIS and why it is an important communications capability for ARES. NVIS 101 & 201 training is scheduled on Saturday, April 18th at 09:00. This training is delivered in two one-hour sessions and is open to all ARES members.
Zoom meeting details have been shared with all Colorado ARES Emergency Coordinators. Please contact your EC for the meeting details.
